SUMMER SAILING CAMPS AT LLSC!
The past 12 months have brought unprecedented challenges to all types of youth programming, and our junior program was no different. Last summer, we were forced to severely cut back on our traditional summer programing.
However, with vaccination efforts far more advanced than we thought they might be earlier in the year, we feel confident about being able to one again provide 3 weeks of summer sailing camps at LLSC.
COVID-19 protocols will remain in place, but we are happy to be getting back to some semblance of “normal” this summer.
We ONLY use certified US Sailing Level One (or higher) instructors at LLSC. The training these instructors go through not only provides for quality instruction, but ensures on-the-water safety of all participants – a sizable portion of the Level One instructor course is devoted to ensuring young sailors are safe and protected on the water. Additionally, we follow recommended guidelines for appropriate instructor/student ratios both to ensure that all participants are getting the attention they need, but, more importantly, to ensure the safety of everyone on the water.
It is impossible to over-emphasize the safety aspects of our staffing plans for youth sailing at LLSC. At least once every summer, we have sudden thunderstorms appear out of nowhere on the lake and need to get all of our kids off the water fast. With our small instructor/sailor ratio on the water, we have always been able to do this quickly and safely.
This committment to a safe student/instrutor ratio means that space in our summer programs is limited.

COVID-19 protocols will be in effect. Masks are required when social distancing cannot be maintained.

Sailors should bring a water bottle - we will have water coolers for re-filling. We do not provide bottled water at camp, but we do have a filtered water fountain & water coolers stationed near the launching area.
